I5-3570 and HD7850 2GB or i5-3350p and HD7850 1GB

Hey,

After much searching and lowering some things I didn't need in my build I was able to get an i5-3570 but now I have another question and I can't find anything on the internet.

I have two options:
- The i5-3570 ( non K ) and a Sapphire HD7850 Dual-X 1GB,
- The i5-3350p and a HD7850 2GB with probably better cooler. The choices are these if that option is chosen ( would thank you if you helped selecting which one of these ):
- Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 OC 2GB,
- HIS Radeon HD 7850 IceQ X 2GB,
- VTX3D Radeon HD 7850 X-Edition 2GB,
- Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2GB,
- Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2GB ( other version that costs lil more ),
- HIS Radeon HD 7850 IceQ Turbo 2GB,
- AMD Radeon HD 7850 OEM 2GB ( Don't even want to consider that option )

I'll do some 3D modelling ( not much yet, but might be later ), I might use Cinema 4D, I'll also do programming in C++ ( game engine development and things like these ) and gaming ( that's the principal ).

All i5's perform roughly equally in games.
1GB vs 2GB primarily only matters at highest resolutions or AntiAliasing settings. May not make much of a difference in the long run, but definitely 2GB for resolutions above 1600x900. As far as brand name, a lot of that is based on Personal bias, but I prefer HIS to Sapphire. I probably wouldn't pay for a factory OC card because it's about 5 minutes of work to do it yourself and 7850s have a fair amount of free headroom without even worrying about cooling.

I would also consider a AMD FX-8300 series if you are throwing Cinema4D into the mix. It will perform slightly worse in CPU limited games (which aren't all that common) But better in Cinema4D and other apps that can tax 8 cores at once.
 
I had that idea, but since gaming is the main thing I'll do with the PC, I prefered the i5 instead cuz of its power consumption and shitz.

So what's ur opinion? Since both CPUs do about the same and a 2GB version GPU is only needed for higher resolutions.
 
Like I said, it's not going to be a ton of difference either way. 2GB graphics card is a bit more future proof and most games aren't going to max out an i5 CPU anyway. That's probably what I'd do. 3350P even uses a little less power/heat since it has no graphics built in.

 



i know this isnt an option but buy the 3570k waste of money to spend 200 bucks when u can pay an extra 30 and have an unlock version. then buy ur radeon 7850. i wouldnt ever settle for a non k cpu
 
Sorry for the double post, just wanted to be sure that ppl would know I had asked another thing. Which of the cards I wrote above has the best cooler?
 


if u cant afford it then buy one part another time dont buy them together. dont cheap out play the patience game and get your parts one by one
 
I would get the i5-3350P and 2GB 7850. People like to say that you don't need 2GB of VRAM, but that is becoming increasingly false. But it also depends on what games you're playing and at what resolution you're playing them at. Could you answer those two questions? I wouldn't bother getting a 3570 if you won't be getting the K edition, at stock clocks they're all very close, so I'd save the cash and get the 3350P. Also, you can overclock the locked i5s, just by a much smaller amount (I think for that i5 it would be around 3.4 Ghz or equal to a stock 3570k), so with a little tweaking you could make that cheaper i5 equal to the more expensive 3570.
 
I'm gonna play all kind of games ( BF3, Skyrim, GTA IV, GTA V, GTASA, LA Noire, F1 2012, Metro 2033, Crysis, FarCry 3 and much more ) at the best settings and highest resolution I can without losing performance.

About the GPU, I'm thinking about the HIS HD7850 IceQ Turbo 2GB, saw a review and the temperatures were very very good with a 1GHz clock OC. Another thing, does that card need only one PCI-E cable or two? It says it needs one, but I saw one with two connections...
 
I use a i5-2310 (overclocked to 3.6Ghz Turbo) and a 1GB 7850. I'm at 1680x1050 and I had to back off the MSAA in BF3 because it seemed to want more the 1GB of VRAM. That's the only place I've found 1GB to be an issue, so far, but I imagine in a couple of years it will be more common. Without MSAA and motion blur (found it annoying) I'm at 60-80fps in multiplayer. Every other game I try I can max out the settings at that resolution. I don't every see my CPU limiting my GPU (7850 is at 100% util in games, and CPU is fairly low, except in 64 user BF3 multiplayer where it's at 80%.

Just as a point of reference. I think you'll be happy with 3350 and 7850 2GB.
 
Yeah, I'll just get a i5-3350p with a HD7850 2GB.

What do you guys think about the HIS HD7850 IceQ Turbo 2GB? And does it really need 2 PCI-E cables?
 
Some 7850s use the same PCB's as the 7870 cards to save production costs. So they will have two PCIe ports required, but not draw any more power than 1 across those two plugs. You can use an adapter if your PSU doesn't have 2 (or often they are included)
 


Good choice. Several of the games you listed can use more than 1GB of RAM, especially in 1080p. If you mod Skyrim, then you'll be REALLY glad you have the extra VRAM, as it can even use more than 3GBs if you really have tons of hi-res mods and ENBs and who knows what else.

As for the card, it looks good. The MSI 7850 Twin Frozr 2GB looks quite nice, too and it's cheaper on Amazon.
 
Wait untill intel haswell, if you can wait that long, should be June 2013 last I heard.

But gpu wise 7850 is a very good gpu I would go with sapphire as that is what I always go with and have never had problems :)
 
I could wait, I was thinking of waiting for AMD Radeon HD 8xxx cards and Intel Haswell but heard it would not be worth it to wait so much for a 15% performance increase. I might do it, though. Maybe at that time I'm able to get a better GPU & CPU.

@wolfkraut, yeah, I have that card on the store I'll buy the hardware but it costs more than the max budget for the GPU so I just didn't even write it here.

@Twelve25, that seems too much for an adapter lol Can't the GPU just run with only one PCI-E cable? It looks like I'm going to either need to downgrade HD7850 to another version or just waste more money on a PSU with two PCI-E cables.

Do you guys think it would be worth it to wait for Intel Haswell CPUs and AMD Radeon HD 8xxx cards to get a better CPU/GPU?
 
Too much for an adapter? You mean cost? They are like $3 on ebay. If you mean power load, that's not true either. The native PCIe plug is just running down the same kinds of cables and on the same rail as the rest of the power anyway.

And no, you can't run with one if two plugs are present. There are single plug 7850s if it bugs you that badly, but really the adapter is a non-issue.

Waiting is rarely worth it, IMO. No matter when you buy, the next big thing is around the corner.

 
Nobody can tell you if waiting is worth it because we don't know the facts regarding the actual products. How much will they cost, how much faster will they be, when will they launch? It's all speculation.
