Picked up this ASUS board with a dual core cpu and some ram in it for $10, I know, some of you might say a waste of $10, but it will replace a socket 775 DDR2 system.

Anyway, the guy said ivy bridge i5s and i7s were reported to have issues with this board. I dont think he actually tested it; i think it was generic advice. I've had 1155 motherboards that didn't like the 3000 series, too.

So I did some searching and couldn't find anyone complaining about this board having problems with 3570 or 3770 or any of the good i5 or i7 quad cores. ASUS website show they are all compatible.

I thought I would ask here before I bought a cpu on ebay. Is it worth it getting a 3000 something for playing old games, for pushing the system as far as I can push it, or should I search for a 2500 or 2600? Prices are not too different.

Thanks
