I5-3570 worth the extra 20 over a 3470?

Only difference between the 3570 and 3470 is .2GHz for an extra $20. I personally do not think this is worth the extra $20, but is it?

No.

But, It is worth spending 30$ more for the i5-3570k if you are planning to overclock.
If not, then no.

I personally have an i5-3570k at 4.5Ghz and It was well worth the extra 30$ for me.

Worth is something only YOU can determine.

The price/performance equation says no. you are getting a 6% improvement for a 10% cost.

But... comparing a 3570 to a 3570K and the potential for a 30% overclock at a 10% price delta, that is a much better buy.

Only thing is, it may just seem like an extra $20-30 for the overclockable but then you need a z77 mobo, then an aftermarket cooler etc. etc.

Intel throughout their entire line up generally has 100mhz increase = $10 increase in price

I did not even consider the 3570 at the time of my build. It was the 3470 or the 3570k. Went with the K cuz i wanted to OC and my games were single threade limted so need more omph OC could give me.

If your games are generally well threaded you can get the 3470 on a h77 platform.
If the games are not so well thraded, you can get the 3470 on a z77 board and boost the turbo to 3.9/4ghz os get the most out of the chip.
Where I live, a decent z77 board cost about the same as h77 and the B75 is only $10 cheaper but with too many feature cut out.

A ~6% performance difference is not likely to make or break anything and for most everyday tasks, it is effectively imperceptible.
