I5 3570k CPU Cooler

hey, I have got my build near finished now and was wondering if my CPU will need a CPU cooler to replace the stock one, I am not going to be overclocking straight away as I have no idea how to do it and I am new to builds as it is so I will read up first for a while.

my current build is:

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge)
Sapphire radeon 7850 2GB
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
XFX Pro 650W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
1TB Western Digital caviar black 7200rpm 64mb cache
Corsair XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (CMX8GX3M2A1600C11)
Cooler Master Elite 430 Windowed Case
Resolution: 1680x1050

So should I change the stock CPU cooler and if so are there any suggestions?

If you are not going to overclock, stick with the stock cooler, if you do, go with something in the ~$40-$100 range.

if the stock one comes with thermal paste on should I remove it and add my own?

If you have your own thermal paste use it, if not the one that comes on the cooler is fine.

since yours is an unlocked cpu it is pretty easy to overclock it just by increasing the multiplier level to the desired level but don't overdo it.

just in case you overclock it in the near future....you will need an after market cpu cooler. the new ivy bridge cpu tend go get hot real quick when you overclock them. and in that case, you will need to remove the old thermal paste and apply a new one.

is there any difference between these hard drives other than space, which one would perform better as I am not too bothered about the space difference

the 1TB will have a little extra performance because of the larger cache and will benefit from the larger bandwidth provided by the SATA III interface.

the difference will not be very noticeable though

OK so this is the build I am going to get after months of research, I checked on pcpartpicker and it says everything is compatible, can anyone see any problems with this build, I don't expect it to be a beast on performance and graphics just something decent

The Scorpio is also a 2.5" where as the Caviar is 3.5". The scorpio would need a 3.5" bay adapter to install.

yes the hyper 212 evo is a pretty decent cooler...if you plan to oc your cpu,dont go for anything less than this.
just make sure your cabinet supports the height of the cooler.

also another reminder, it would be easier for you to install an after market cooler right now than to upgrade it later when needed, because you would be saved from the labor of installing the coolers as well as re applying the thermal paste again.

you will find that on the specifications of the cabinet as well as the user's manual.

OK thanks, a few more questions, as the above is everything I will be getting do I need a sound card, or can I just plug in speakers at the back and have sound as normal?

I have covered everything except the motherboard a lot, is is a decent motherboard or is there a better one for around the same price or over a bit?
