Hi I assembles pc yesterday and its freezes at 8-10 time so far . Have a new i5 3570k not overclocked running at stock speed .. gigabyte z77x ud3h motherboard and corsair dominator 8 gig all bought yesterday and radeon hd 6870 ddr5 ..I was running asus motherboard with amd phenom x4 and same graphic card for about 2-3 years never had any problem with it . What is it making the whole computer freeze ? It's annoying I just spent so much money and its slow and laggy than my 2 year old computer 🙁 please help me I go physco nuts .😡

Just lock up no blue screen or anything no lines nothing just plain freez of the scene like a screenshot :/

Hi Friend,

i have same processor with a Asrock Extreme4 and 16GB (4 X 4GB) patriot 2133mhz at 1.5V and a 7950.

I saw some freezing, some bluescreens when playing Farcry3.

On my case, I have memory on 2133 MHZ and i needed use 1.55 volts, and freezing stopped.

Take a look on you memory voltage/Clock/Timers and on memory controler voltage.

Maybe could work to you too.

I did a memtest it passed :) I will try to go though the memory booklet and see if I have the right voltage although I have not changed anything in bios. ?

Just tried changed from 1333 to 1600ghz also checked the voltage was 1.5v which is recommended and 9-9-9-24 . I and its still froze few minutes ago 🙁

Is there anything settings I am missing ?

No nothing it's just freezing when idel or just copying stuff or just on desktop , haven't froze when playing game or something do I need to do something with the ram in bios after Custom build ?

I'm sorry if I sound like Captain Obvious, but how did you install the heatsink and fan on the CPU? Your ordeal sounds like an extreme lack of cooling issue, with the cpu permanently in thermal throttling mode, until it can't take anymore and freezes.

I think I installed it fine I am keeping eye on temps using speedfan? Everything is running normal means blue ? Only gpu gets to 60degree when I play games which I think is normal ?

Seems normal to me indeed; Check the temperatures of the CPU cores, at stock speed they shouldn't go much higher than the 60-70c band under load, probably in the 30-45c at idle. If you simply installed the heatsink follwing the instructions in the box, you should be fine anyway.

Before suggesting any other course of action, there's another thing I'm curious about: are you reusing the hard drive from your previous system? If so, did you reinstall Windows?

Yes I am reusing previous hard drive its 7200rpms I clean installed windows formatted hard drive and started everything from scratch .the temperatures are normal usually under 35 idle. I have been researching for few hours but still no luck 🙁
