Hello guys! I have an gtx 960 and an core i3 2100..my cpu is very bad. I cant choose between i5 3570k and i7 2100k...i need the best cpu with socket 1155 and these two are in my price range. Please help me with pros and cons! BTW i want to make YT Gaming so that includes rendering, multi threading and MANY programs like after effects and sony vegas.

Solution
For games the 3570K will perform slightly better

For rendering the 2600K is far more powerful even though it's a sandy bridge processor

The 2600K has 8MB of L3 cache and hyperthreading

I'd rather pick the i7 2600K due to It's much better for content creation (I predict 30% minimum) and still works properly for games. At least you will se a noticeable increasment compared to the i3 2100

Because it's still clocked higher (3.4 GHz vs 3.1 GHz on the i3) and incorporates turbo boost, which means that the i7 can go up to 3.8 ghz

i7 2600k if you're planning on rendering videos. Hyperthreading will help significantly.

well a 3770k would be the best processor that will fit in the socket. but you probably do not have a p67 or z68 board to take advantage of the overclocking potential of the 2500k, 3570k, 2600k, and 3770k. if that is the case then you should just get a locked processor. without knowing what motherboard you have you would probably be better off getting a locked i5-2400 since they are very common. most 1155 motherboards offer a bios update to allow ivy bridge processors to work but without knowing for sure it would be tough to recommend. either way the small ipc differences between sandy and ivy bridge are not going to be significant at all to gaming.
