The i5 is the best CPU for your needs, the i7 offers absolutely no extra performance in either Battlefield 3 or Day Z., Since the i5 is cheaper by ~$100, you should by the i5.

Hi Bryce,

I am currently using the i5 3570k and have no reason to upgrade to an i7. If you have the cash to spend then sure give the i7 a bash however i5 is more than enough computing power for the games you have suggested and plenty more.

As a suggestion, why not save cash and go with the i5, sell you current GPU and get something more powerful?

The i7 is cheaper by $100 in the system I looking at but the i5 system also come with 16GB ram and a 120GB SSD. Does extra RAM and a SSD add a lot of performance?

Hell yes. The SSD and extra ram more than make up for the the i5-system being 100 more. MORE than make up for.

Edit: You can either take the one persons advice and get the i7 or you can take the i5 with SSD and more ram like everyone else is saying. Once you have a SSD you will barf at how slow a HDD system is.

Hi,

Having an SSD over an HHD makes a huge difference and you will never look back. Plus the 16gb ram will work well too. Defo the SSD and Ram option.

I was amazed and the performance increase i received after installing my SSD.
