someone was willing to sell their i5-3570k for 51$ and i still use a ivy / sandy bridge 1155 socket motherboard so would it be worth buying? im currently using a i5-3450 and i could easily sell it

Depends on the rest of your system mostly. I'm inclined to say no, but if you have a nice motherboard then you'll be able to overclock the 3570k. But, if you don't have a nice motherboard then you won't end up being able to overclock all that heavily and at that point it will be wasted money.

I'm still quite happy with my i5, but I don't play a lot of modern, AAA games. If you don't overclock, the i5 you're buying will perform about the same as the i5 you already have, but $51 is a very good price so you could potentially buy it just to flip.

would a sandy bridge i7 2600k be a worthy upgrade then? or is it even capable on my motherboard (socket 1155 ivy bridge)

The 3450 can be overclocked too, with an OC-capable board.

The clock difference with OC is not going to be that much bigger than the difference in the stock clocks.

OP, if you can sell the 3450 for $30-40 it's probably worth it.

yeah maybe i thought about that

my motherboard isnt an overclockable one so, GPU is RX 480
