I5 3570k to i7 3770k upgrade

Hi guys. So my current system consists of the following..

I5 3570k
Gtx 1080
16gb ddr3 1600mhz ram
Gigabyte z77n motherboard
Windows 10 64

I seem to be able to play most games comfortably with pretty high frame rates at 1440p and not far from maxed out settings, however the games I play the most seem to benefit from the threading that i7's have over the i5's. Destiny 2 and battlefield 1 for example. No matter how low the graphic settings are on battlefield my cpu is constantly at 100% and in destiny I will average around 100+ fps while doing strikes ext but when in the open world doing public events my fps goes to below 60 sometimes and apparently i7's can help with this. Basically my cpu is 100% load while playing these 2 games and I can get a i7 3770k for about £100. Do you think It will help run those more cpu heavy games a bit better and help get rid of the big cpu spikes I'm Having? I tried capping my frame rate and it didn't help much but obviously I don't have a 144hz monitor to play at 60fps. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Moving to an i7 over your i5 will benefit you in certain games such as bf1 (my 4690 would be hitting 80-100% constantly) but the real question is, is it worth 100 quid? Do you have any plans on overhauling your build any time soon? If so I'd say hold off on buying the i7 and consider moving to an i5 8400 or a ryzen 2600.

I would go with the i7 upgrade, because it means you will extend the life of your PC by a good 2 years. I have a 4960k which runs everything fine @ 1080p. Also right now on a 2600k - again no problems with games @ 1080p
I know you said you run 1440p but to get any acceptable upgrade, you are looking about 400-500 assuming you only buy cpu/ram/mobo (amd my recommendation) and keep everything else. All depends on your financials.

Go with the i7 upgrade and it will certainly be good enough for a while. I had an i7-2600k for a long time until my motherboard broke, then I switched to 6700k (which I felt was a little bit faster), I compare that to my wife's i7-4790k and I do not see a significant performance difference at all. We primarily use our PC's for gaming - just to say I do not see a huge performance gap between older gen i7 and my 6th gen i7.

Not a bad idea, if you need the multithreaded support, and cannot afford a CPU, motherboard, and ram, right now.

Thanks guys, Yeh i'm pretty happy with the performance i'm getting in most games and don't want to splash out £500+ for new parts at the mo so will take a chance on the 3770k as it seems more game are using the hyper threading these days. Even if i don't get any more fps but a little more stable performance i will be happy. Thanks again
