I5 3570k vs I7 3770K

hey i am planning on building a comp mostly for gaming so i heard the I5 is the cheaper choice, but i also will be doing auto cad, music editing, and game recording/streaming. I was wondering if doing these tasks will make the I7 a more viable choice to buy.

HyperThreading adds 20-30% performance if your workload is heavily threaded enough to put it to use. Since almost no games make good use of more than two cores, that leaves the better part of at least two cores available for other stuff while gaming.

20% extra performance (only if your workload can actually tap into it) is not going to make or break productivity much in most cases.

The I5 is the choice for gaming since the HT issue above and it releases funds for a better GPU for better gaming experience. Your other tasks would benefit from the I7. Really it is a matter of budget.

I do have a GTX 670 and a GTX 680 is out of hand when it comes to cost, but i can handle getting an I7
