Hey guys,

I just want to know which CPU is better for gaming;
Intel Core i5 4430 3.0 GHz Quad-core, or the;
AMD Fx-8350 4.0 Ghz Eight-core.

I thought the Fx-8350 was better, but I have heard some bad things about these cpu's. So which one should i choose?

Solution

87 Chipsets are more expensive than AM3+, so no, he couldn't.

Anyway, the AMD will give OC headroom and is about equal to that i5.

So should I go for the 8350?

You can get the i5 4570 for $200 which is the same price... The motherboards also arent that expensive either.

IMO you can't go wrong, but the 4570 is a locked cpu. However, for 250 you can get the 4670 which will out perform the 8350, but at the end of the day, when you pair either with the right gpu they are both great gaming cpus. Overall, the Intel cpus will win in single threaded programs, and the 8350 will perform better in multi threaded programs.

The fx-8350 are great processors, and if you only deciding between those 2 cpus the 8350 wins easy.

any i5 is better than amd, I'd choose the i5 any version including 4430 (any game runs smoothly, less power consumption, less heat) but I think amd 8350 will benefit from the ported games from ps4/xbox one to pc, because the consoles have amd 8-core "jaguar". intel does not have yet true 8-core for consumers. It's my personal opinion, not sure if I'm right, yet.

Not true, but whatever.

Single threaded games are more suited for i5, while amd is more suited for muliti threaded

Well the i5 3570k does beat the 8350. Not all 3rd gen i5s beat the 8350... i think?

From benchmarks I have seen between the FX 8350 and the 3570K, 8350 wins in most tests.

Youtube should be avoided.

Yeah single threaded i5 is better, but the 8350 performs better overall vs 4430 in games.

(off topic)The i5 3570k beats AMD on CPU games that support dual core, but games that recommends more cores like BF3 8350 beats it but not much really. They are both really good but i5 beats 8350 overall.

No, the i5 3570k beats the 8350 for gaming... Like Novuake said "Youtube should be avoided"

If your planning on playing cpu intensive games you should always go Intel. IMO
