i5 4440 vs fx 8350 for gaming

Solution

Simply put: The i5 has 4 fast threads, the FX has 8 slower threads.

Games only tend to use up to 4 threads/cores; only a few games(and I'm talking single digits here) use more than that. Therefore for gaming, the i5's 4 faster threads will be better than the FX's 8 slower threads.
FX 8350 can be compared to a 3570K when gaming.

Also, new APIs (direct 12 and mantle) makes multi core CPU perform better. So in the long term, a FX 8 core should perform better than a low I5.

If you plan to get a 4690, it would outperform any AMD FX though.
