I5 4460 bottleneck question

Hello all, I am currently using a i5 4460 with my GTX 1080. My other specs are a Asus ranger 2 z97 motherboard (LGA 1150 socket), 2 x 4gb 1866 ddr3 ram. I am using a gsync 1440p 144hz monitor.

My question is I am currently getting for example on overwatch just 120 to 130+ FPS on ultra settings, and I suspect it is my i5 bottlenecking? Should I upgrade to a i7 4790k or it won't make much of a difference? Or should I upgrade my ram to 16gb?

Thanks in advance!

Unless you're extremely into having a ridiculous amount of FPS that isn't going to change your experience then that 120 to 130+ FPS is more than fine. Upgrading could be a good idea on more CPU intensive games where you will see that bottleneck come into effect more, but it really depends on whether the games you play stress more on your GPU or your CPU, also bear in mind that if you upgrade to the i7 you're going to see some heat issues and will want to drop some cash on a good aftermarket cooler as well as the CPU.

Get and i7 4790k and oc that thing to 4.6Ghz and you are golden for another 2 or 3 years.
