Hi there,
I'm planning to buy a new processor and Motherboard because my current processor and motherboard will be used by my father.
I just purchased the i5 4460 and just need to pick the Motherboard.
However, I have limited budget. I was planning to purchase Motherboard with H97 Chipset but they are beyond my limit.
With my budget, I can only afford motherboard with H81 chipset and I'm planning to purchase Asus H81 Gamer.

The question is, is it okay to use i5 4460 on H81 chipset? will it perform well? what are the disadvantages?
From what I know, it is useless to use H97 I'm not planning to upgrade my processor or OC it and I'm not planning to do that (I'm not going to upgrade my processor until end of 2017). Is it true?
Or should I get some loan to force myself buy MB with H97?
I only use it to play games like Skyrim and Fallout (and Witcher 3 in the future).
Additional information for my PC setup:
RAM : 2x 4GB (planning to upgrade it to 4x 4GB or 2x 8GB in next 4 months)
VGA : Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Planning to upgrade it to GTX 660 in next 2 months)

Solution
You are fine to use the Asus H81 Gaming with i5 4460, because you don't oc and upgrading the cpu until 2017. The disadvantages using the H81 are you can't use two GPU for either CF or SLI, the RAM speed does limit up to 1600mhz ( no oc the RAM), less sataIII ports, or less the fan headers.

Thank you, your answer makes me more confident in my decision.
I would like you ask you one last question before my final decision.
My current PC setup without motherboard:
Processor : i5 4460
RAM : Kingston 2x 4GB
VGA : Zotac Nvidia Geforce GTX 550 Ti
HDD : 120 GB SSD and 500 GB WD HDD as secondary

with that setup, is there any big differences in performance between H97 and H81 motherboard?

Their should be no performance increases. Finally i'm not the only i5, h81 user!
