I am running a i3 2100, 8gb ram & gtx 750TI. I am looking for a upgrade within a budget.
I can either buy i5 4460+ mobo & re-use the ram
Or i3 6100 with mobo+ ddr4 ram
If i want to buy the i5 6400 i have to borrow from other people because of budget & I'm shy of that.
I'm more leaned towards the i5 4460. Please give me your valuable opinion

You do raise a fair point here. Intel is using the socket LGA1151 for the next two gens (along with DDR4 RAM) and a i3-6100 is probably a better match for a 750 Ti. I suggest the i3.

I was just worried about the motherboards because sandy bridge and ivy bridge had same sockets so there were tons of mobos and skylake, kaby lake will have same socket too however haswell is alone here...i dont want to face the trouble im facing right now with 1155 mobos..they are so rare

That requires me to invest in this sandy bridge even more but what if my mobo goes bad in the future? It is so hard to find a 1155 mobo these days. also i have to get an used cpu. but is that viable though?

with the price of an used i5 or i7 here i can just add $60 to get a whole new system

No one can predict how long a motherboard will last, could be 2 more months, could 4 more years.

If you want a new system, you can get it, it will give very good performance, I was just giving an extra option :)
