Hi guys, I am thinking of getting one of these three Haswell i5's to put into a completely brand new build. I am swaying towards the 4460 due to it being £30-£40 cheaper than the 4670k/4690k. If I were to get either the 4670k/4690k, I would overclock. Also, what is the difference of performance between the 2 CPUs? And, is spending a little more to get the 4670k/4690k, actually worth it?

Here is what it is going to be paired with:
Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming
MSI Z97-G55 SLI ATX Mobo
HyperX FURY Series 8GB (2x4GB) 1866MHz
Corsair CXM 600W PSU

Many thanks!

It's not really worth it. It's more of a hobby. If you're looking to squeeze a little more performance, than it would help, a little.

But, if you aren't going to overclock, than don't get a Z97 board. Save money and buy an H97 board.

Also, drop the Corsair CX. Corsair TX, HX, or AX only. This Antec PSU is on sale.

Are H97 motherboards SLI compatible?

I live in the UK so newegg is a big no!

Those corsair PSUs (TX,HX,AX) are quite expensive. Depending on how much I can save on the motherboard, is going to be how much more I am going to spend on a PSU.

Thanks!

hello guys, since the thread is related, im asking on this rather making another one..
im also considering between getting 4460 or 4690, then i found this video on youtube showing the benchmark
the result shows i5 4690 can pull 10-20% more fps than 4460
BF4 Ultra 80fps : 73fps
Crysis 3 Very High 46fps : 41fps
Far Cry 3 Ultra 73fps : 59fps
the results shocked me, because to my knowledge there may be diff, but not that huge.
can u guys check whether the benchmark is valid or not? im more inclined to 4460 now, but if the benchmark is valid, i'd get 4690 for sure

many thanks!

The majority of Youtube videos are worthless. They never tell the whole story. What settings? What hardware? What game play scenario/level/map? Single player? Multi player?

Would I expect the 4690 faster than the 4460 but by 10-20%? No.
