i5 4460 with gtx 960 vs i5 6400 with gtx 960

Is it worth it getting the 6400 ? o r the 4460 still be great enough for future stuffs

Well if you have the money, go for it. But the 4460 is still a good cpu.

The 4460 is a bit better, than a 6400. Even if they were the same clock speed, the performance differences are minimal, and wouldn't be noticeable in real world use. The i5 6400 platform does have a better upgrade path, though. If you never intend to upgrade the CPU, stick with the 4460.

I'm already thinking getting a 4460 + asus pro z97 as my MOBO then if i got a better savings i could try to get the gtx 970 asus strix. Will the cpu be powerful enough to handle the gtx 970?

I currently have a ram which is the Hyper X fury 1600mhz x 2 4gb , do i need to upgrade/change my ram also?

It would handle a GTX 970, just fine. Ram should be fine too.
