i5 4590, Hyperthreading

Hi guys how to know if hyperthreading already enabled on my pc?

i5 4590
GTX 970
16GB ram

that i5 does not support hyperthreading.
CPUs that support HT:
desktop i3 and i7 CPUs.
mobile i5 CPUs that are actually dual core CPUs with HT enabled that makes them show up as quad core CPUs. all mobile i3 and i7 CPUs support hyperthreading.

if your i5 supported HT (which it doesn't), you would be having 8 logical cores instead of 4.

you dont need HT for gaming, there are very few games that actually use hyperthreading correctly. HT would be necessary if you are into video rendering and 3D rendering. any modern i5 can easily run a game that an i7 with HT can run. the only thing that distinguishes an i5 from an i7 is HT and the bigger L3 cache.

actually i do editing too, like AfterEffect,Cinema 4d thats why i curious abt HT 😀

well then you might need an i7 4790 to do those tasks more smoothly. you can try selling your i5 and add some extra cash and buy the i7 CPU.

ill go i7 6700k next year and upgrading anything related to my CPU, thanks mate!

i7-7700k and 200 series motherboards should be out by then. Looks like 4.2-4.5Ghz out of the box.
