Just looking for a solid CPU for home use mainly watching videos with the possibility of steaming HDMI. Wanted to know if I should go for the 4690K instead of the i5-4590 as its cost a little bit more at the moment for black Friday: 209.99
Didn't read the use carefully. You could actually getaway with a cheap Pentium G3258, many have used it for HTPC builds. Could even go cheaper than a Pentium, but it has a good bang for your buck ratio.
Yeah, for streaming, an i5 really isn't needed. If you really want one, I'd get the one of the lower end i5 like RazerZ's suggestion. There won't be a performance difference between them. You could get away with an i3.

Yeah I am doing another build with the G3258 for more basic needs. For this build I am running an SSD, no GPU, 8GB ram 1600.
Of course I want this build to be cheap yes, but also seamless even when I have a bunch of programs running.
I felt like a quad core would accomplish that, but maybe a strong dual core will be just as good. If i3 is the way to go, which one would it be i3-4130?
I agree with RazerZ. An i5 is pretty overkill for this. If you're using Intel HD 4000 graphics, there's a very small difference between them that will not be noticeable for videos. You could even do a cheap GPU.

Thanks RazerZ and barto for your feedback, looks like I'll pick up another G3258 for both the builds I'm doing.
Anytime. The G3258 should work fine. If you wanted the i3 since it has hyper threading go for the cheapest Haswell since they all have similar performance.
