No, save your money.
The big advantage of a I7 is that it has hyperthreads, giving 8 threads.
But, few games can even use more than 2-3 threads, making the ectra threads mostly irrelevant.
The i7 is a better binned chip that has the potential for a bit higher overclock.
4.5 is a good overclock for either so there is no advantage there.
Most cases, your gaming will improve only through graphics card upgrades.
Even then, if you are gaming on a single monitor, the advantage of a second GTX980 is probably not worth it.
If you are looking at gaming(fast action shooters) on a 4k monitor or triple 1080P monitors, then dual cards are probably needed.
If you have the budget and the itch, how about a nice 2560 x 1600 monitor?
