i5 4670k 4.5ghz vs i7 4790k ? [GAMING]

I already own the 4670k @ 4.5ghz and a GTX 980 super clocked.

Should i upgrade to the 4790k for more fps ?

The 4670K is already a great performer. I would suggest you put the money towards something like an SSD.

I recently bought the samsung 500gb 840 EVO and its super fast. I also got 16gb of ram at 2133mhz

Upgrading to a 4790k from a 4690k purely for gaming is not really an upgrade.
You will see a 1-5 fps increase at best in most games.

The 4670k if overclocked (or even at stock) will most certainly not be the bottleneck of any gaming you do. No you do not need to upgrade. If you need more decoding or similar performance, I would still say no lol.

i5 is just fine for gaming. No need getting i7 at this point. Nice oc btw.

No, save your money.
The big advantage of a I7 is that it has hyperthreads, giving 8 threads.
But, few games can even use more than 2-3 threads, making the ectra threads mostly irrelevant.
The i7 is a better binned chip that has the potential for a bit higher overclock.
4.5 is a good overclock for either so there is no advantage there.

Most cases, your gaming will improve only through graphics card upgrades.
Even then, if you are gaming on a single monitor, the advantage of a second GTX980 is probably not worth it.
If you are looking at gaming(fast action shooters) on a 4k monitor or triple 1080P monitors, then dual cards are probably needed.
If you have the budget and the itch, how about a nice 2560 x 1600 monitor?

Thanks for the quick answers. As of now i got a 2560x1080 29'' lg monitor for movies and a 144hz asus monitor 1080p for gaming. Yeah the oc of the cpu is at 4.5ghz with 4.5cache as well. The GTX 980 is at 1495 clock as well 24/7 stable.

You should save your money to buy the latest GPUs in 2-5 years. That's what I'd do.
