i5-4670k, and ga z87x ud4h Overclock help

Hi, I have watched videos on how to overclock but it just seems like their are too many options in my bios to understand it. My specs are ga z87x ud4h mobo, Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800), sapphire dual x 7970, crucial m4 128gb, corsair hx750, Cooler master 212 evo, and the haswell 1150 4670k. I will post some pictures of what my bios looks like and the current settings maybe someone hear can help.

Thanks it runs at 4ghz when at load now and temps only went up by 5-7c at load. I believe its on auto voltage which is fine for now so thankyou.

No problem, can continue to take it up slowly, say 1 at a time, then when it crashes (and it will 😉 ) it's time to add a little vCore (CPU voltage)

I am also an extreme noob at this. I have read and read on overclocking, and I think I am even more confused now than ever.

I have a 4770k and this same board. Can you safely overclock by using just the using the clock ratio and vcore? I don't want to go far, just maybe 4.3 (I'm on air). I keep reading of VRINs, LLC, etc. and I don't even seem to find them in this BIOS. I'm sure they are there, just called different things.

Is it same just to use the auto-overclocks (the 20% gives me 4.3)? Is that safe longterm? (It seems as if I have read that auto-overclocks give too much voltage.

I'm also working out a cooling problem. The 20% autooverclock gives me 85-90C on OCCT, which may be a bit high from what I have read. I am going to clean/reapply thermal past and reseat my CM Hyper EVO 212 tonight.

You can try the Auto OCs - I usually recomend getting screenshots of the settings at stock - then give the auto OCs a try and get shots of what the new settings are - from there you can trying lowering the changed voltages while maintaining stability, but also have the setting that were originally put in as fall back

The problem with this BIOS is when you change to an Auto-overclock, the settings don't really change on the screen (that I can tell).

Can I overclock with just multiplier and voltage? Do you need to worry about the VRims, etc.

Do you think that 85c-90c is too high in OCCT? (OCCT actually fails on temp after a minute, but Linpack will run forever, really strange).

When you do the auto OC they won't often times - after you have done it though, if you boot back to the BIOS it should show what they are then at

Thank you. Can I just start with changing the multiplier to like 42 and leave the voltage on auto? I am just looking to find the simplest way of getting to around that.

It is the voltage that causes the heat?
