Hi, basically I've had the same setup for over 18 months and never had a problem with my cooler or cpu, and I have not overclocked the system. Randomly yesterday my PC crashed and upon restart I had fan error and cpu overheat. After letting it cool down, I checked out the bios for what the readings were like.
The fan rpm for the h100i is sitting around the 2200rpm mark and it takes about 2 minutes from cold for the cpu to reach 80-90c. I have re applied the thermal paste properly and exact scenario. The plate thing on the water cooler also feels really hot after 2 mins as well. All the fans and stuff are working correctly.

So basically can I troubleshoot this further? I'm broke as. I'm praying that it is just the cooler I need to replace. But I'm worried about the extreme temps so quickly from boot. So basically do you think/know if this is a cpu or cooler problem?

Solution
As synphul said, try touching the hoses attached to the water block and see if one is much hotter than the other. Even if the pump and fans are working it's possible there's a blockage somewhere.
You should have some software on there called corsair link, it came with the cooler. It monitors the cooler and should tell you the pump rpm's. Alternately you can lightly press your finger against the water block and feel for a vibration to verify the pump is working. Try feeling the two hoses, is one much hotter than the other? If so then the pump is either weak or stopped working. A bit common with aio's since the pump quality isn't the greatest.

Here's an example of the corsair link software showing pump speed.

Yup so I quickly jumped on and had a look. Seems like its on but as you can see cpu temps are dangerous and pump appears to be working. I have redone the thermal paste twice and through previous experience i am positive I have applied it correctly. http://imgur.com/22Q4WRj

The hoses are cool to touch. The first time it crashed and overheated, one hose was really hot. Now after 10 mins with 90c temps on the cpu, the hoses are still cool. Is it possible that that the cooler is fine and the cpu is the problem? I'm gonna get a hyper 212 tomorrow and pray that the H100i is the problem.

Seeing as how you say this happened suddenly and you've tried changing paste, the two possibilities I can think of are either that there's a blockage in the AIO which would explain the one hose being really hot, or that the CPU's heat sensor somehow mucked up and is giving false readings. The former is the most likely since you say the first time only one hose was really hot. If it is indeed a blockage, you can either RMA it if it's within warranty, or you can manually flush and refill it.

Thanks so much for the info. I just noticed as well that in the previous pic picture I supplied that the h100i has a temp reading of 73c, do you know if this is a normal temp or a good indicator of the cooler being the problem?
