i5 4670K and H97 G43 GAMING - Can't Adjust CPU Ratio

Hi everyone,

Title says it all. I have an i5 4670k with a Coolmaster Evo Hyper 212 cooler on an MSI H87 G43 Gaming mobo.

For whatever reason, I cannot adjust the CPU ratio to OC my CPU. The option in my UEFI is stuck on "Auto" with no way to adjust settings. Anyone know what that's all about?

Change from Auto to Manual push enter where the option is, and a little window should open, now it should give you the option to change the ratios.

H87 =/= Z87

An H87 does not allow you to change the multiplier in the BIOS.
A Z87 will.

Are you kidding me?? Wow, it was not obvious to me that the H87 G43 Gaming isn't OC-capable... In fact, I couldn't discern that at all!!!

but you can try OC Genie function as it will boost the cpu speed a bit

Negative, I did a simple Google search, came across the mobo's webpage and it was not indicated that it wasn't OC-capable.

Misrepresentation much?? If anything, considering the language of the website, I was led to believe that it WAS capable!

for now can you still return the mobo? if you can get z87 g43 gaming it will allow you to overclock as much as you wanted

scroll down you will see that it says OC essentials while mobo on the link you show doesnt say anything about overclocking except OC genie function

It is a misrepresentation because the language (if you open the link and read through the motherboard's page) would give a reasonable person the impression that this motherboard is indeed OC capable.

Specifically note the following headers: OC Genie 4, Total Control, Graphical Fan Control & Monitoring

thats why you should always ask for advice before buying anything. you cant blame the company either because its their advertising way to hook consumer. shopping for computer components is a very serious deal that you have to do research every single parts in consideration.
