Hey guys,my config is:
Mobo: Gigabyte m5a78
CPU: Fx 6300 BE
GPU: Sapphire r9 280x dual-x
Hard Drive: Wd black 1tb
PSU: Corsair TX 750
Cooler cpu:Evo 212
Monitor: Acer 21.5" H226hql LED
Ram 1x8 GB Adata 1333 Mhz
Case: Phantom 410

So,i wanna buy i5 4670k...i wanna play a new games, like COD,Battlefield 4 ,ect.I think that for now only CPU upgrade is good. But im not sure that i5 4670k is much better then my FX.

I wanna also buy r9 290x,but I'm still student,and i'll buy it later.

I think that FX 8300 will be better,it is not so expensive. If i buy 8300 i will change Mobo ,because this is poor for overclock .
Thanks :)

If by "better" you mean less expensive, then ok. If by better you mean better performance, then I wonder how that weird idea got into your head. AMD doesn't have a CPU that can compete with the 4690k for gaming. If you're overclocking you'll want that Devil's Canyon update which has a far better TIM, among other things.

That aside, if you've already got a computer that you can live with for another 4 months or so, just wait and build a Skylake computer in the fall. It will run circles around anything you could build today.

Well the fx 6300 and fx 8300 will perform pretty much identical in gaming, i pondered upgrading to an fx 8320 for a while but after looking at gaming benchmarks comparing the 6300 and 8320 i decided there is no point at all and it would be a total waste of money every game i saw the performed exactly the same. The i5 4670k would be a better upgrade but is also far more expensive because you would need a new motherboard as well. So its up to you but in my opinion upgrading to an amd fx 8core from a 6300 for gaming is totally worthless.

Just another idea... if you want to play new games today, just get a graphics card and forget about the CPU. It will make a much bigger difference than replacing your CPU/mobo at this point. Then you can get Skylake when you have more money later.

It probably will in some games, but who cares it wont be that bad, do a little overcloking and you should be fine. An fx 8320 will bottleneck a 290x just like a 6300 will, If you really want to get rid of all cpu bottlenecks you need to go intel. A bottleneck is not a terrible thing like some people like to say if you had an intel atom and a 290x that would be a bad bottleneck but a fx 6300 especially overclocked is not going to hinder a 290x that much.

Its not "so much better than your fx" some games you will notice no difference at all in others you may get a 5 to maybe 10fps increase i wouldn't count on seeing anything better than that. Its up to you if you want to spend the money. Personally i would stick with what you have and save up for a while so you can just upgrade everything at the same time.

You should be having zero problems with your current rig for running BF4. I have zero problems with it, & I'm just running a stock FX-8320 with an R9 270.

Nor should you be having a lot of issues with other games, especially since an R9 280X is perfect for 1080p gaming (& should be OK even up to 1440p, depending on settings).

As pointed out before, gettiing an i5 will require getting a new motherboard, plus having to back up all of your files since you'll be reinstalling Windows from scratch.

Now, that potentially could be worth it. It's true that that particular i5 has better performance than the FX-83xx series, let alone an FX-6300. However, a lot of the boost is seen more in synthetic benchmarks, or in "real-world" non-gaming benchmarks where the differences are measured in milliseconds.

As for gaming results, it depends on the game:

-- i5-4690K vs. FX-6350: http://anandtech.com/bench/product/1281?vs=1261

-- i5-4690K vs. FX-8350: http://anandtech.com/bench/product/697?vs=1261

In both cases, the BF4 performance (a specific game you mentioned in your OP) of the i5 over the FX chips is very limited -- 3 FPS actual, or about a 5% performance difference. Which is not surprising, given that the FX-8350 & FX-6350 are both just a tier below the i5. And while those benchmarks use the GTX 770, it's at the same tier as your GPU, so the results would tend to be similar.

Depends on the game, for games that are heavy on single thread performance on the CPU you will see an FPS increase by switching to intel. A good example would be BF4 multiplayer, you will be hard pressed to find a benchmark online because most will use the single player game for consistent benchmarking but at the same time it's not as CPU heavy like the multiplayer mode is.

If you have the money to go with the i5 you won't regret it but it might be good to check out some CPU benchmarks for games you are interested in and see how much of a difference you will get.

I play FPS games, like Crysis 3,COD ....thats are heavy games.I see that i5 is really good processor.I read a lot before answering you guys, and overall i5 is much better than 6300 i gaming.
