Specs:

i5 4670k
MSI Z87 G45 Mobo
MSI GeForce GTX 770 OC Edition
Corsair H100i Liquid Cooler
PC Power & Cooling 750w MkIII 80+ Gold
120GB Intel Cherryville SSD
2 TB Seagate HDD
8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
CoolerMaster Storm 2 Case (I think it's a midsize)

I'm @ a 4.2GHz Overclock with the core voltage @ 1.275

Running Prime95 I was maxing out @ around 60c but mostly around 57-59c

@ idle right now I was @ 37-40c with a max of 42c

Does that seem about normal? Is there room to go up? I'm VERY new to overclocking and am scared to make it so unstable that it won't boot (which I almost did already).

I've seen people say that 4.6GHz is the "sweet spot" on this processor but I don't have a full size case and do really want to push it too far.

Solution
Those temps are just fine, you can coax more performance out of it yet as well. Just try and keep your temps under 70 degrees. It can go higher (100 degrees before it shuts down I think), but the higher temps put more strain on your cpu.

What about core voltage?

I bumped up to 4.3GHz (using the modifier @ 43 in mobo bios) and have the CV @ 1.280 and it gets BSOD after about 2-3 minutes under full load with Prime95...

I've heard not to go higher than 1.3 on CV is that true or can I go as high the the temps will allow?

i have msi pac mate mobo and i have mine clocked to 4.3 core voltage is 1.19 i did 9 hours prime 95 no crash and only hit 70 once but stays in the 60s i feel that good for now i will later i have not a great cooler 620 h20 its ok
