Hello everyone,

I'm new here. This is actually my first post. And I discovered this forum, while searching for information on overclocking my cpu.

I have the following spec:
CPU: i5 4670k
MB: Asus b85m
COOLER: Zalman Water cooler LQ315

I upgraded the motherboard BIOS and the new version has presets for overclocking. While using the preset for 4.2Ghz worked fine. Going to 4.4Ghz didn't I slowly increased voltage till I hit stability which is at 1.3V, pretty high I would say cause i read some posts people running at only 1.2V or even going to 4.5Ghz and 1.2V.

I tested with PRIME95 and the temps didn't go higher than 80C.
The problem is that after playing the game for more than 2 hours it started eventually to crash.
And my question is how could I make it more stable? Cause there are a lot of settings in BIOS but don't know how to use them. All I did was to change the voltage and set multiplier to 44.

Let me know if you need other info.
Thanks a lot.

i would suggest that you read more about OC'ing. those preset will not always work, but it can serve as a starting point.
adjust, and test, rinse and repeat.
it takes time esp while you are still learning. just keep in mind the max safe voltages so you won't go over and fry your parts.
also, OC also involves luck. so some are lucky enough to have good oc while having low voltages. some are not that lucky and hit a wall
good luck

Thx for the input. I am playing a lot with it. Just having some questions about some fields in bios. I know this MB ain't perfect for this, but I'll try to push it as much as possible. What is the max voltage? Where can I find out?

Right now I'm running a new test at 4.4Ghz. I'll see if it fails in the next hours. I'd like to keep it at 4.4 :D
