I5-4670k vs I7-4770k

Alright people, you have saved me once with some great advice. I am looking to upgrade my processor and I am in a tight spot. I didn't know which would ultimately be better for the long run. The main focus of my computer is for gaming. I have found the i7 for about $319 where the i5 goes for about $100 less. Any inforamtion will help. Also, I like to stream my gameplay so I dont know which would be better as I am new to building computers.

You won't notice any difference between the two CPUs for gaming. The i7 comes in handy for heavily multi-threaded use like video editing, but offers no advantage over the i5 in most current games. Your money is better spent on the best GPU that you can afford for gaming.

games don't really support hyperthreading which is the biggest difference between an i5 and i7. even if they did i doubt the difference in performance would be worth the 100.00 price premium. streaming would be more processor intensive which could make the difference, depending on how much of it you do. strictly from a gaming standpoint there is no reason to get an i7. So it all comes down to how much streaming you want to do and how important top performance would be in that regard, as an overclocked i5 should be able to handle the job adequately.

I have been hearing this a lot and I also noticed other threads explain. However, non of them mentioned streaming. I just didnt know if there would be $100 worth of streaming quality if I chose the i7-4770k over the i5-4670k. I know for regular gaming it won't make a difference but I would really like it for daily streaming.

Honestly, an overclocked i5 should handle streaming acceptably well. it all comes down to whether you are ok with dropping an extra 100.00 to ensure the best experience or not.

Awesome, I don't want to keep this thread open longer than it needs to be. I will probably go with an i5-4670k and just wait a few years before going all out. Then I can use the money saved towards a upgraded gpu. Thank you!
