Building a budget pc here and I have an i5 4690 (not a K) that I have already spent $700 on. Was planning on either keeping my evga gtx 750ti that is in my current build or going with evga gtx960 super-sc.
My question is will the 750 ti be fine with no bottlenecking or spend the $200 on the 960, that I would prefer not to.

Current build will be turned into a media PC.

Will be playing random games. Fallout 3, New Vegas, Fallout 4 when it comes out, Skyrim, BF4 and possibly older games in my steam library when boredom arises.

New build already consists of:
Corsair Vengence c70 case
Corsair 500W PS
i5 4690 3.5
MSI gaming 3 H97
16 GB PNY Anarchy RAM
512 GB Crucial SSD
1 TB Seagate 7200 HDD

If you were thinking about the 4gb gtx 960 then yes, it is worth it, if you were thinking about the 2gb one, then I would say no, just buy another gtx 750ti and sli it with the existing one

EDIT: I forgot that the 750 ti doesn't support sli :/
just go for the gtx 960 4gb

Sadly my new motherboard isn't SLI capable, only crossfire ready, or that would have been an option if the 750 ti supported it. I'm thinking that the 960 4gb is out of my price range.

With all do respect this is a terrible response, you are as clueless as the person asking the question.

1. Nothing Will Bottleneck.
2. With the GTX 750 Ti the i5 4690 will not be able to shine and perform at it's full or near full potential.
3. If you can afford it a GTX 960 will do you great.
4. If you can't afford that the R9 285 is an excellent option.
5. 4 GB of VRAM is not needed unless you are going over 1080P.

Will the R9 285 be alright with my 500W power supply? I've always had ATI through the years but when they turned into AMD, my first card was the 7850HD and it lasted less than a year until the fans quit working. The 750 ti has performed "ok" at best for me in my current build. I can't say whether or not its other hardware issues that caused my games to crash. Without turning this into a "which is better, AMD or Nvidia", I'm not sure which route to go.

550W quality PSU is recommended for the R9 285

Your PSU is neither quality or 550W.

Now i would recommend the R9 270X, it performs better than the GTX 750 Ti.

Also you can not compare those two brands, i can help you compare two different GPU's from AMD & Nvidia however team red vs team green is a long story and it really depends on the GPU's you compare.

I do have an older Raidmaxx RX630SS PSU in my current build. Re-use it in new build? It is approximately 4-5 years old.

It is highly recommended to get a Tier 1 or 2 PSU for gaming.
