I5-4690/k vs the i5-3340

So Christmas is coming and im looking at getting a new CPU. My current motherboard has the LGA 1155 socket which the 3340 would be perfect for or I could look at getting a new motherboard (which I would like so I can add more RAM eventually) and get the 4690 or 4690k.

What are the major differences? Will I notice anything significant? The pricing is obviously more convenient on the 3340 as i wont need a new mobo and the 3340 has a much higher operating temperature at around 102 degrees celcius which may help as I dont plan on using water cooling on my mini-itx PC.

What would your suggestions be?

If you want to spend less money, you could pick up an i5 3570K, as it will fit in your current motherboard.

That was my plan originally but I cant find any stock here in South Africa so for now I think the 3340 will be sufficient

Oh in that case, you should notice a reasonable performance boost over the G2030 with that i5. Have fun
