Hi guys! I currently own a AMD FX-6300 and i'm planning on moving to Intel. I can't decide between the i5 4690 or the K model. I know overclocking is good and if I get the K i'll be able to do it whenever I want in the future. My question is: The 4690 has a turbo boost to 3.9 Ghz, correct? So is it worth it to buy the K model and spend way more money on it, a more expensive mobo and an aftermarket cooler just so I can get it to 4.2 or 4.3 Ghz? (Being that I would only be able to get a 212 evo) Isn't 3.9 Ghz enough to push a factory clocked 970 and play everything on max settings without any stuttering or anything like that?

Thank you in advance!

Agreed. The 4690 is so close to price to the 4690k you may as well get the 4690k and take advantage of it being an unlocked cpu. If not, then skip the poor value of the 4690 and go with the 4460 or 4590. If you live near a microcenter I think the 4590 is even cheaper than the 4460 at around $160. Trouble is you have to buy in store since they don't ship (cpu's anyway).

The 3.9ghz turbo boost only counts on 2 cores I belive and not all 4 and the price difference isn't that high, so I'd recommend the 4690K If you wan't to get the +4.0ghz on all the cores. But you don't really need +4.0 ghz in gaming, you'd probably make it with an 4460 too.
