i5-4690 with Asus Maximus VII Hero vs. i7-4820 ASRock X79 Extreme6

Can't decide whether to go with a high end motherboard and an i5 or a seemingly average motherboard and an i7-4820. The only reason why I looked at changing the CPU is that the i7 is going for a really good price ($15 more than the i5) at a nearby Micro Center. I can't quite afford a good LGA-2011 motherboard, so I wanted to ask if it's the second build is still more preferable.

i5-4690 with Asus Maximus VII Hero < Killer combo , go with this one.

Yep the 4690K and the Hero, would kick the DRAM up to 1866 or 2133 though, maybe the Snipers or Ripjaws X, 2133/9 are priced well
