Question I5 4690K and 1.65v RAMs on 1.5v Motherboard

Hi there. I had a Z97 motherboard that recently died.

So I need a new mobo and was wondering if the I5 4690K and 1.65v RAMs (Sniper F3-2400C11D) will work on something like a Gigabyte ga-b85m-d3h-a, becuse MB manufacturer doesn't specify that these RAMs will work.

I believe the motherboard only supports up to 1.5v RAMs

Can I run this configuration?

It should be fine, the voltage regulators should be able to handle it. Especially the controller on your CPU.

Thanks for your reply. Should I expect it to run fine also on a Ga-h81m-ds2?

I would assume not, especially since the board doesn't support anything higher than 1600MHz or any OC higher than that. That initial board also doesn't support above 1600 either so in the end I would not advise getting either board especially with your RAM. You'll lose performance.

I'm not looking for performance, but I need it to work stable. That's the goal.

Then it should work, you could simply undervolt the ram to 1.5 since it won't be using the full 2400
