i5-4690K + gtx 950 OR I3 6100 + RX 480

Which combo would be better for 1080p gaming? Also, what fps would I expect from both builds.

The i3 + 480 would be WAY better and it wouldn't even be close. I recommend option number 3 though which would be an i5 6500 + RX470.

I would go for the i3-6100+RX480. But I would pick a nice z170 motherboard to have the option of getting an unlocked CPU in the future.
the i3-6100 will have a good resell value.

I have a i5-4690k and a 480. Great, it Max everything at 1080 60fps (that I play atleast). Now before the 480 I had a 270x, which was great until now it was struggling on newer games (I believe the 270x and 950 arent far apart in performance). I also have a friend that just did the i3-6100 and a 380x and it is working well. But he plans to go to a 15 here soon in the future. A friend with a i5 just bought a 950 and is already looking to upgrade. I know he is running the bf1 beta at medium at 60fps (maybe 900p think his monitor is not 1080p).So if your looking for something that is future proof I would go with a lower i5 and a 470 like someone suggested above. The 470 is not far behind the 480. Plus with being cheaper it is so much better. If you are building something to last I think a quad core i5 would be the best option and 470. Plus for 1080p I think 4gb vram option would be fine, which could make the card even cheaper. Hope this helps a little on the decision.
