Hi Guys,

Just built myself a new PC.

Corsair 300R case
i5 4690k with the CM Hyper 212 Evo.

As i've been using the PC, I've noticed the temps remain quite high for stock clock rate.

On idle i get around 35-38c and on full load i get up to 65c.

Is this right?

Can anybody else with a similar setup confirm?

Thanks

My 4690K with EVO 212 idled at 35, and at full load was 72.

I lapped my 212 and it dropped 5 degrees, to 30 - 67.

Now I am using a push / pull fan setup that was worth 1-2 degrees. I am also using Cougar fans which are quiet and slow.

Both those tests are using the latest version of Prime95 with the maximum heat / power test for 20 minutes. While the latest version is not recomended for Intel chips, it gives me a true maximum value, which is what I wanted.

It proves that a properly cooled Intel CPU has no issues running Prime95 28.5 or newer.

26.6 and there's not a huge difference for me, it's a matter of about 5c at the most.

In my experience the difference is usually more than 5 C for sure. I would say closer to 10 would be more average, but some people see even larger difference. If we were talking 5 C (less than 10%) nobody would say anything about running 28.5 on the newer Intel chips.

Hey there heaps!

We have almost the same concern.. Mine was posted here btwhttp://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2733472/cpu-temp-result-prime95-test.html

But the results are from Prime95 version 28.5 and ambient temp was around 30-32C. In real life usage like rendering and gaming mine is from 35-57C running 12hrs a day for work and gaming.. I am using push pull setup on my 212X with i5 4690 and Corsair Spec 03 case with complete fan intake and exhaust setup at PWM control on BIOS using fan PWM fan hubs for cpu cooler and case fans.

If your CPU doesn't throttle or get colse to 100°C while running Prime95 28.5 Small FFTs, then you don't have an issue (other than you keep your room too warm to be comfortable).
