Hello guys.

I'm pretty new to overclocking with these new cpu's back in the day it used to be much easier or maybe I'm just getting confused with the other stuff people are talking about like cache ratio/voltage.

Right now I got my i5 4690k to 4.4 on 1.2v haven't tried lower voltage yet. My max temps on Prime95 26.6 small FTT for 1 hour was:

Core1: 68ºc
Core2: 70ºc
Core3: 62ºc
Core4: 61ºc

My problem now is should I do anything with cache? I have everything else on auto, only core multiplier is 44 and core voltage set to 1.2v, should I set cache voltage/multipler to manual? if yes what to then?

Also this is my computer spec:

Mobo: Asus Z97M-Plus
CPU: i5 4690k @4.4ghz 1.2v
Case: Cooler Master N200
Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo
GPU: msi gtx 660
Ram: 2x 4gb Kingstone HyperX LoVo 1333mhz 1.35v set to XMP profile 1600mhz 1.35v

Any reason to do it manually instead of using XMP-1600 on the RAM?

This is the ram I'm using: http://www.kingston.com/en/hyperx/memory/lovo

most of the time you can dial in slightly lower cas timings than the sticks are rated. otherwise, sometimes xmp profiles can change other parameters like qpi/vtt voltages without the motherboard properly alerting/showing it, it just shows auto or a default measurement. this has sometimes led to cpu overclock instability and a wild goose chase trying to find the culprit. ideally for your cpu overclock testing, you shouldn't run the ram at anything, keep it at 1333mhz with no manual/xmp changes. later when you know your 99.99% cpu overclock stable, you can set your ram with xmp or manually and if you bsod, then you know something in the ram settings is affecting your cpu overclock.

i am not familiar with the extra settings that haswell has for cache or ring voltages. i have heard the closer your ring voltage is to your core voltage the better, but i do not know why.

if your at a paltry 1.20v and getting 4.4ghz and your stable, i think you have a pretty good chip. its doubtful any other settings need to be changed. if anything you can lower some values to remove heat and see if your still stable, or keep going for 45x, 46x.

someone else with more experience should chime in. otherwise i think most will say your looking real good at that speed and nearing your your ideal 24/7/365 stress testing temp limits anyways.

Yeah I'm quite happy with 4.4 for now I don't think I need to go for 45/46 for now. Only after I get a better GPU like the GTX 970 then I'll probably try to get the cpu to 4.6ghz but I will probably also need to get a better cooler then.

almost 2 weeks of testing with Arma 3, BF3, Warframe, SWTOR everything on max settings or almost. Also was streaming while playing the games with OBS had cpu preset to Faster. 3000 bitrate, 720@59 fps Filter: Best Detail, I can say I'm quite happy with it :)

Max temp while streaming with almost 100% cpu usage was 65º or less can't remember the right number, might lower some settings because I like to have better performance then getting those random 100% cpu usage spikes.

Did IBT 10 runs, max temp was 80ºc

CPU is running at 4.4ghz 1.19v

I didn't do a 24h prime95 26.6 test yet but I don't see the point, everything seems good no bsod or weird errors.

Now I still don't have a clue about the CPU Cache...
