hey guys
i just bought my new build recently
but im still running the CPU at stock speeds
im caught up in a dilemma whether or not i should overclock my CPU
firslty, it will void my warranty
secondly, it will reduce the life span of my CPU

what i wanted to know is by how much will the life of my CPU b reduced if i overclock it?
if i decide to overclock it
i will do it with a cooler master hyper 212X

i will run a GTX 970 along with this

so my question is
should i overclock or not?
how much of an fps increase will the CPU give me if a overclock it?

It would be a shame to have paid the extra money for a "K" version of that processor w an unlocked multiplier and not OC it. If done correctly, the lifespan won't be shortened a bit. But if you over do the voltage and let temps go unmonitored, then lifespan may shorten. Start by simply increasing the CPU clock multiplier a click at a time (in BIOS), run something like Intel Burn Test (at the default settings), and watch temps. You should get quite a decent OC on the multi alone w/o ever touching the vcore.
