I built my computer back in early january, everything seemed to be working fine and the temperatures were fine. However, about two weeks ago i was playing CSGO, tabbed out and saw that my CPU temperature was at 100°C. So a few days later i refitted my stock cooler and gave the computer a general clean, then i checked the CPU temperature and it went back to how it was when i first got my computer (in the 50s when gaming).

So yesterday i went on TF2, H1Z1 and CSGO, my CPU temperature was at 100°C again and i don't know what the problem is! The motherboard i have is Gigabyte GA-Z97M-DS3H Micro ATX LGA1150. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I am not overclocking!

You can turn on vsync to limit the FPS, this will drasticly reduce the CPU usage.. however, this may not be optimal if you prefer lots of FPS. CSGO is a very easy game to run, so CPU and GPU usage skyrockets and causes high temps.

You could also turn the clockspeed down, CSGO does not need a 3.5ghz cpu, you could drop it down to 3ghz and leave voltage on auto (which will also go down).

Otherwise, buying a nice cpu cooler will fix the problem without requiring you to compromise (vsync or lower clockspeed). The stock cooler can handle full load, just not for extended periods of time.

Its not just in CSGO though and what cpu cooler do you recommend?

Your CPU should throttle heavily at that temperature. Have you verified that the readings are accurate using other software? Have you verified that the cooler is functioning? That should not be reaching those temperatures under any gaming circumstances, even with a stock cooler, provided the cooler is installed and functioning correctly.

Yeah i've tested multiple software and they all have the same readings. The cooler is functioning and i took extra care with making sure that the cooler was fitted correctly, really don't know what the problem is, but hope its fixable
