Hi, I'm just a little worried about my temps while idling. I've also noticed that the fan speed is hovering around 720 RPM is this normal?

Your PC is not under a big load so it's not doing much and the temperatures caused by its lazy attitude are completely normal and nothing to worry about. Keep that app running and start to push your CPU with Ark Survival, Intel's Burn Test, Aida 64, gaming or some productivity based task. Full load temp. means so much more. While the idle is very important for the baseline, only when the system is pushed can its cooling solutions be properly tested. A screenshot when it's under a heavy load can show us the other side of this coin.

The fan speed is also to be expected at idle. You can change that fan curve within BIOS.

Just game for about 30 minutes and exit the game. Maximize CPU Monitor and take another screenshot. It displays the current temp. but also remembers the low and high as long as the app. is active.

Just going over your HW Monitor, looks like your 4690k is not overclocked I presume? At least you appear to not have touched voltages anyway as they look stock at 1.058v.

Anyway, long story short, your temps are fine. You're hovering around 30C and your fan is drawing less power due to being idle. That's normal, especially when your motherboard is regulating fan speed through the PWM connection on the CPU Fan header via the BIOS. Of course temps will vary depending on your room ambient temperature, humidity etc...But at 30C idle, I wouldn't worry too much.

Under load if you start approaching that 80-90C mark then I'd have a little cause for concern. Perhaps your thermal paste job is a little thick or the heat sink isn't dispersing heat properly etc.

But you're fine. Let me know how everything goes.

Hi, thank you for replying I've just run IntelBurnTest on standard stress level and the max temp I've got in HWMonitor is 54ºC should it be that high I haven't overclocked my CPU.

Why not try that test one more time but change the Standard test Stress Level to Maximum. We can then see the bigger picture. You can see within my answer over here http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3084719/4690k-reasonable-temps.html that my 4690K topped out at 81c. during an Intel Burn test.

With a standard test 54c isn't abnormal.

Hi again, I tried to do the test for maximum but I got the following message for some reason "warning Linpack binary stopped unexpectedly" So I changed it to Very High and my max CPU temp reached 57ºC I've also noticed that programs are only showing that I have 13GB of ram when in fact I've got 16GB installed?

Thanks,

There may be some reserved or some in use. Click start and type Resource and then click on resource manager. Click on Memory to get a bigger picture. Post a screenshot.

I would instead try OCCT's severe test http://www.ocbase.com/index.php/download and see what happens. I'm suggesting OCCT severe because with IBT failing we need to see if it's a program or system error.

So far your temps. look perfect.

Hi, I've just downloaded OCCT I have run the test on Large Data Set for 10 mins and the max temp in HWMonitor reached 51ºC
