I currently have this
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 3501 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical
And am looking to upgrade to
Intel Core i7 6700K Processor (4 GHz, 4 Core, 8 Threads, 8 MB cache, LGA1151 Socket Box)

I am very new to stuff like this and am wondering if I would have issues switching it out and if I would have to change any other components and if I would need to do anything else or if I could simply swap them out in my pc

Solution
get a second hand i7 4790k so you can stick with ddr3 (and mobo). if you are going to upgrade the whole system then consider ryzen 2xxx series or 8th gen intel - so you get more cores.
