i5-4690k vs. i5-6600k which one?

I have a few questions: Which is better (title), are they still worth buying, and can they fit in my 990FXA-UD3 Motherboard? Also, I have a GTX 980 and 8 GB of ram if that effects anything.

The motherboard you currently have supports only AMD cpus, you're going to need a totally new mobo to buy a new CPU, if that's the case, then i'd suggest going with the 6600k and a z170 motherboard.

To go with the 6600k you will need new ram (DDR4), however at this point the price to go with the Z170 motherboard and 6600k is not much more and its a far newer platform, slightly faster (~10%). THats your best bet.

Your old motherboard is worthless it will not work with Intel processors, its AMD.

this motherboard can be used with AMD processors only.

You will need a new motherboard too.

About the processor, you can get a i7 4790k if you will overclock.

As the title describes, I'm looking for a good, cheap Intel motherboard, that supports a GTX 980 graphics card and Dual 8gigs of DDR3 ram.

What CPU are you planning to use it with?

I am currently been using AMD CPU's and am transferring into the Intel market, not sure which CPU to buy.

What will you use the PC for?

Gaming generally.
