So i am building a PC with a 1000€ budget (counting with monitor) and i need to know what will perform and make the most difference all around! I want to start playing new games and stuff but i don't need Ultra settings AAx3000000000 and that! I want to play all games 1080p at least high settings! What do you think? Intel i5 4690k + z97 overclocking motherboard + r9 290 or Intel i5 4460 + non overclocking motherboard + GTX 970? My build is:

Case: Zalman Z11 HF1 - 64,90€
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - 29,90€
Monitor: (doesn't matter here) - 100-150€
SSD: Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB SATA III - 64,50€
CPU: Intel i5 4690k - 252,00€
GPU: MSI r9 290 - 317,90€
Motherboard: Asus Z97-Pro Gamer - 149,90€

Keep in mind that the r9 290 is 317,90€ and the GTX 970 is 379,90€ / i5 4690k is 252€ and i5 4460 is 182,00€!

H97 pro gamer will overclock a 4690k just like a Z97? That is strange! It has the same features at temperature and stuff? I want the build to be future proof, i don't want temperatures to go very high and i want to overclock it good!

#1: Overclocking may take time for beginners, if you dont have anyone supervising you, its gonna be troublesome. But if you dont wanna bother yourself with hours of trial and erros, go for Intel i5 4460 + non overclocking motherboard + GTX 970, with 970 you`ll be able to run most games at ultra in most cases.

You havent mention what psu are you planning to get so lemmi jus give ya a suggestion instead, any 550w psu from trusted brands such as seasonic, evga, xfx, antec or corsair

Havent seen a ram too, If i were you ill ditch the kingstone since its auto set to 1.65w compare to a Corsair vengence thats already set to 1.5w w/c is a sweet spot for rams. so yea. corsair vengeance 8gb 1600 mHz 2 x 4, get the dual kit so you can take advantage of dual channel feature which is faster than a single kit (1x8)

optional ram: Rip jaws g skill 8gb 1600mHz

I've actually never overclocked so i don't really know, will search on that after i have the computer done! But tell me, that H97 supports SLI or crossfire? It's because if i choose GTX 970 over r9 290 i need SLI on the mobo.. Can you now answer the main question of the thread please? I really need help with that!!

H97 doesn't support SLI.

Well, i've never overclocked anything... i forgot to put the ram but it was G.Skill Kit 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Ripjaws CL9, Corsair vengence is too much money... But the difference is 60€ on the r9 290 for the GTX 970, is it worth it?

H97 isnt recommended for overclockin which you will research and apply soon enough to unlock devil canyon's power. SLI is for nvdia and crossfire is for AMD, gtx 970 is nvidia so thats sli, althou h97 supports sli its not recommended for overclocking, I suggest you get a z97 board, I suggest to get ASUS' rog vii ranger. You will have to change your psu if youre gonna sli. I suggest gettin a psu at least 750w 80+ bronze

But imagine that i get gtx 970... and one die i want to buy another so i get better results, the i5 4460 will handle it? And i would need an SLI motherboard

r9 290 is power hungry while the gtx 970 is somewhat nature friendly, it wont give you much diffrence in terms of performance. so ill go with the gtx 970 plus you cannot overclock the r9 290 not unless you`ll get the 290x.

The difference is worth it, you'll be able to save some money (not 60 Euros, of course, but still) on a PSU.
For clarification: H97 supports Crossfire but NOT SLI. Overclocking on H97 - isn't (I won't mention special cases, because Z97 overclock CPUs much better)
Your build isn't full, lacks RAM & PSU. Have you already bought those?

I am not going to SLI now, i am saying that someday i might need to SLI if i want to continue playing with this PC, i want this to be future proof, you know? So that's why idk if i should get the 4690k for the overclocking speed future proof and if the GTX 970 makes that difference for r9 290...

I thought youre gettin the Intel i5 4690k? regardless of what youre gonna pick either of those. i5 4460 and i5 4690k will definitely handly a sli without any trouble. YES absolutely you`ll need a motherboard which has 2 pci slots so you can put 2 cards for sli

I don't understand your desire to SLI. 970 eats 1080p High settings for breakfast.

Alright. Get the 4690k and the GTX 970, Im certain that you`ll have future proof you want since both 4690k and 970 are overclockable. You cannot overclock r9 290 so this gives the 970 an advantage.

It's not a desire! I just want to know that my computer wont fucking explode of heat and that i can play most games without bluescreens and stuff.. I bought 4 years ago a 2000€ computer, qosmio x500 13r and my graphics card fried a week ago... I am really sad and that computer always gave problems to be although of my care with it :| So i don't want it to happen again, i want to have a stable gaming experience without that things...!! I can give more 100€ or 150€ as long as i know that it will compensate!! You get what i am saying? I want to buy a computer now that 4 years from now or 3 i can upgrade and become a "good" computer too! It's something like that... And my graphics was nvidia, since the beggining i had problems with kernel driver blabla, and bluescreens, heating problems... and i am afraid of Nvidia to be true!!

If youre gonna settle with 4690k and the GTX 970, keep your ram and get a decent psu. I wont suggest that you get a 750w psu which is a future proof for sli-ing. So for now get a 550w psu from trusted brands and upgrade later as you must.

That was what i was thinking about! 550w is enough for both graphics and CPU overclock?

That's not very good advice. The price differance usally is not that much so buying a 550 watt one now then upgrading to a.bigger one makes little since.

if he still got few more bucks to spend, then he can get the 750w instead of the 550w. no problem
