Hi! I know you can overclock i5-6400 and many other locked CPU's when adjusting base clock. I have compatible bios to change that. My base clock is 102.7 at the moment, because when I rise it to 102.8 or more, it wont work. It reboots several times and then theres ''Overclocking failed! Press F1 to run setup''. How someone got like 4.5GHz with i5-6400 with just adjusting baseclock? Please tell me what im doing wrong or something, or do I need special bios? :)

My setup:
-
MoBo: ASUS Z170-P
CPU: Intel i5-6400 Skylake
GPU: GTX 960 4GB OC
PSU: Corsair 750w Bronze
RAM: 2x4GB 2133MHz DDR4 (Does not support XMP!)
Cooler: Stock cooler

+ My BIOS was lastly updated 27/9/2015 so I don't think it was removed that long time ago. My windows doesn't automatically update BIOS.
And what If I update my BIOS into version where you can overclock Non-K Intel CPUS.

Solution
It looks like changing the block speed also messes with the ram speed. try setting the ram speed as low as it will go and then start raising the block timing. YOu should be able to find the max block speed and then play with your ram speed.

i read somewhere that you cant use the EZflash utility from asus to update the bios as it doesnt update the intel ME firmware
