hi,

i have an old rig at home that my bro uses and i want to buy him a new gpu so he can play current games(current gpu:geforce gts 250). the problem is the rig also has an outdated cpu - the i5 650 which only has 2 cores with hyperthread tec. can i upgrade his gpu to 560 ti or 570 ti without worrying about bottleneck? can his cpu(with the 560ti or 570) run current and upcoming games at low - mid settings with res below 1080p? something in the 1600x900 area?

other system specs:

MB: ga-g31mx-s2
RAM: 4gb(probably upgrade that too)
power: atx-550w v2

p.s.
dont know if its the correct place to open this thread but its more of a cpu issue.. please correct me if i'm wrong.

thanks to all in advance.

Solution
gtx 560 and 570 ti is fairly old card its 4 generations behind but they can still give you decent FPS at low to medimum settings and your processor will not bottleneck those cards.

Actually, people with 970s have been playing shadow of mordor with the "6gb Vram Requirement" at max settings with 60fps, and it generally uses up around 3.4-3.6gb vram. However those cards he mentioned would not be able to get anything above low (maybe low-mid)settings.

thanks for the offer buddy but i live in israel so parts cost more than us prices. a 770 with 2gb cost about 420$ and the new 970 525$ but still i'm gonna wait for the rumored gtx 970 8gb and upgrade my rig(not my brother's).

i5 3570(non k)
8gb ram

any suggestions for upgrading my rig?
