i5 6500 constantly spiking to 100% CPU usage, causing my games to freeze often

Solution
Try setting all of that back to default. Could be unstable. Doesn't seem like it should affect your CPU though.

Definitely look into running malwarebytes and avast to see if there is malware affecting your system.

If none of that helps, I'm out of ideas
The 6500 should definitely be capable of handling those. Couple things to try looking into:

- Are you running anything in the background?
- if you go to device manager, do you see any options with a yellow or red symbol next to them?
- what is your GPU usage?
- are you monitoring temperatures, if so, what are they in game?

Even when I'm not running anything in the background it happens.
There are no yellow or red symbols there
I'll check my gpu usage during a game.
and according to msi afterburner the temp while ingame is 40 degrees celcius

Sometimes I set core clock and memory clock on msi after burner to +50
gpu usage is around 20-50, sometimes jumping to 90ish

40 is too low, this probably means that the cpu is running in power save mode(much lower clocks to save power) ,unless you have a super cooler running at top speeds all the time.
