I5 6500 ddr3 motherboard

Recently bought a motherboard from Amazon and they said it was ddr3 but when It came it was actually ddr4.

Any way I have an i56500 and I need a motherboard that supports it and supports ddr3 ram.

Well if you have an i5-6500, you need a ddr4 motherboard, because that processor doesn't work with ddr3. Sorry.

The socket is LGA 1151, and not a single motherboard with that socket will support DDR3.

Are you sure because on the intel website it says its compatible with ddr3

That is DDR3L and it doesnt work as good as ddr4.
Look on ebay , tons of people are throwing out old z170 b150 h170 motherboards for a low price.

Well like i said, socket is LGA 1151, there might be some weird motherboard out there that is lga 1151 and DDR3, but the ram it supports is DDR3L, and you can search and try to find one but I didn't find any

The thing here, is that it only supports 1.35V for RAM, and most RAM is rated at over 1.5


Ah I stand corrected, after more searching and a couple pages of Newegg, I found the B150-PLUS D3, the only motherboard LGA 1151 that supports DDR3.

Said motherboard is over 350 dollars, and it would be cheaper just to buy a normal ddr4 motherboard, and use the money you save to buy DDR4 RAM.

Heres some RAM you can get with it if you do end up doing it (Which wouldn't be smart to match a good processor like that with only DDR3)
