Alright question 1. Is the i5-6500 good for a GTX 1080 if it's Overclocked?

Question 2. I know I need an z170 mobo for an OCed i5-6500, but I wanna know if the cheapness of the board matters. For example how is a z170 that's $110 differentiate with a z170 that's $150?

Question 3, do I have enough RAM to OC both components (i5-6500 and 1080)?

Solution
You can use GTX1080 with relax.
I5 6500 is not yet a bottleneck or a terrible bottleneck for 1080 on most games.
Yes, I5 is a bottleneck for some new AAA games but not yet in a terrible manner especially for 60hz gaming.

I5 6500 can not be OCed efficiently, you can do it only via stuffs, which quite hard to maintain stable. I would not do it.
Depends on what resolution you are going to play, If you want to 4k game then your CPU will def be an issue and so will your RAM. If you are doing 1080P then the 1080 is overkill for your needs.

Also keep in mind the 6500 is not made for overclocking, its possible but not worth it.
