Hi. I bought a new pc and i got I5 6500 skylake in it and thats quad core.
However my pc shows only 3 cores . In BIOS , in msconfig , in CPU-Z.
Can someone help me ?

Thanks.

Could you post a screenshot of CPU-Z? I would like to see that.
Some motherboards can disable one or more cores, but that's a fairly rare feature. I'm not sure if any skylake motherboards can do that. The most common implementation that I've seen is to either enable all cores or just one.

You might try resetting your bios. If that doesn't work, I would return it.

I dont really have time to find important info from these pages.
My msconfig shows 3 too.
So whats exactly is this speed shift ?

I have 3 in there.

Omg i need to check All ? Am i rly that retarded ?

Yes, change to ALL

All right. I changed to All but still the same.
BUT i noticed that in device manager under CPU there is 4 now. There was 3 when i had 3 in BIOS.

What else is the same?
Do what Mikel_4 said about msconfig

msconfig is same , cpu-z is same , task manager is same . They all shows 3 cores. Only thing that actually shows 4 is device manager.

In msconfig, can't check to change # or core?

I can change but only to 3 cores max.

you mean reset bios ?

By removing CMOS battery/clearing jumper yes. Only do it if you know your current BIOS settings or can back them up to a USB though, as it may stop your OS booting otherwise. The posters above will be able to help you with that more than me, its just something I experienced myself when, after upgrading CPU, it was still reading the old CPU!

I just did that and nothing changed.
