Hi, I'm wondering if i would be able to upgrade to a i7 7700k from a i5 6500. I've heard that you would need to flash a bios update with a i7 6500k before upgrading to the 7700k, my current motherboard is a z170-A running the 6500. I'm wasn't sure if the information i have is accurate. If i could upgrade what would be the steps before upgrading, how would i go about flashing the bios with an update?

Thanks for the help!

Yeah you can do that. Just go to the motherboard page online and under support should be a download page for BIOS. Download the latest BIOS to a flash drive. Then boot into BIOS and switch it to advanced mode. Under tools should be e-z flash I think Asus calls it. Tell it to use the USB method and select the BIOS you downloaded. Make sure nothing interrupts it. That's it.
