i5 6500 vs i7 4790

Hello.

I'm building my new gaming pc and i wanted to know if i should go with an i5 6500 or save some money and get the i7 4790? Is it worth it? I heard that some of the new games are starting to use more then 4 cores is it true?

other pc specs:
GPU: GTX 1070
PSU: 600W

Both of these CPU's are fantastic you wouldn't have a problem with either the decision totally depends on what you want. if you want Bang for your buck right now then go with the 4790k as it a better preforming processor when it can utilise all of its Threads. The downside to this processor is it offer no upgradeability for the future. while on the other hand the I5-6500 is a very good quad core processor with access to newer motherboards/RAM while it will have...

The downside to this processor is it offer no upgradeability for the future. while on the other hand the I5-6500 is a very good quad core processor with access to newer motherboards/RAM while it will have no trouble running any AAA games with your GPU it wont be as powerful on some games as the 4790k especially if you overclock it, but as its skylake it offer a much nicer upgrade path.

If it was me I would go for the newer Skylake for future upgrades and due to the fact the I5-6500 would have no difficultly playing any AAA Game anyway.
