As the title says, my cpu temp goes at 72°C sometimes ( happened 2 or 3 times so far) as soon as I turn the pc on, even before windows boot. I can tell due to my cpu fan at full speed. Just a simple restart fix the problem.

When gaming, temps are fine and stable at 50°c max, so it shouldnt be a bad mouning and/or thermal compound issue.

My concearn is a possible cpu failure or just tem sensor failure? Any thoughts?

Why do you say 72c specifically?
When your PC starts up the CPU fan will typically spin up to 100% before adjusting to temps and slowing, nothing to worry about most likely.
Only other culprit could be a poorly mounted cooler, but given your temps while gaming I'd rule that out.

I have this rig for almost a year, during this whole time I've never removed the cpu fan, and under heavy load the cpu temp stay between 45 to 50°C, so as you said, I doubt it will be bad mount. And as soon as I log i to windows, I have this gigabyte software of fan control that shows all my temp, among other things, and the cpu is at 72°C. Like I said, in about a year of usage, this issue only happened 2 or 3 times, and it was like this month.

Also, the cpu fan never started at 100% and slowed down, it has always started at normal speed, silent, propably at 30% or so and the cpu temp at 30° on a hot day at idle. So I just thought it weird this started happening out of the blue after almost a year of usage, and while gaming temp never goes beyond 50, I decided to share to see if anyone else has had this same problem

That' s the thing: cpu fan has been mounted for almost a year, maybe it started to loosen it? Never heard of that. Also, if it was not mounted well, while gaming temp should go crazy high, but instead it stays at steady 50°c tops

With all due respect, but a skylake at idle at 72°c is normal? Not at all man, like I said, have this rig for almost a year and cpu temps are 30°c at idle and 45 to 50°c under heavy load. This issue started like a month ago only 2 or 3 times, it aint normal

I get the cpu temp as soon as I log into windows and start aida 64 and my gigabyte fan control

I´ve tried MSI, Hardware Monitor from gigabyte which came with my MB, Aida 64 , etc all of them shows the same temp.

why I´m starting Aida 64 at startup? That´s not the point, I can start any other software that shows temp and still it will be showing the same exactly temp,

JNust a reminder, the first sign of this issue is my cpu fan going crazy as soon as I turn the pc on, so I donp´t think it´s a false reading, otherwise my cpu fan wouldn´t go crazy, or not?? the temp I notice after loggin in and check it with any software such as MSI, AIda, whatever software that I´ve been using and it´s accurate, not sure why you guys don´t trust Aida 64, the very same temps that it shows is the same at Hardware Monitor (software that came with my MB) or MSI... you got the point
